Role Summary:

A Child-Focused General Practitioner (GP) is a licensed medical professional who specializes in providing primary care services tailored to infants, children, and adolescents. They diagnose and treat a variety of pediatric conditions, ensure proper developmental monitoring, and promote preventive care. Acting as the first point of contact for young patients, they offer compassionate, age-appropriate healthcare that supports both children and their families.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive consultations with children and their guardians to assess symptoms, medical history, and developmental milestones.

  • Diagnose pediatric-specific acute and chronic illnesses and formulate child-friendly treatment and care plans.

  • Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments while ensuring correct dosage and child-safe administration.

  • Provide preventive care including vaccinations, growth assessments, and health screenings tailored to children’s needs.

  • Refer young patients to pediatric specialists for further evaluation or intervention when required.

  • Respond swiftly and efficiently to pediatric emergencies, ensuring immediate stabilization and appropriate referral.

  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to offer holistic child-focused care.


Skills and Qualifications:
  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.

  • Valid medical license to practice in the region (e.g., DHA, DOH, or MOH license in the UAE).

  • Specialized training or experience in pediatrics is highly preferred.

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills relevant to child health.

  • Exceptional communication skills with both children and their guardians.

  • Proficient in pediatric EMR systems and healthcare documentation.

  • Patience, empathy, and a caring approach suited to working with children of all ages.

  • Ability to manage a variety of pediatric cases in both clinical and home-based settings.


Working Conditions:
