Role Summary:
A Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing and organizing patient medical records accurately and securely. They ensure that all documentation is up to date, accessible to authorized personnel, and complies with privacy regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and test results.
Ensure all medical documents are correctly filed, categorized, and stored physically or digitally.
Retrieve and provide medical records to healthcare professionals as needed.
Verify the accuracy and completeness of records and follow up on missing or incomplete information.
Handle confidential information in accordance with data protection and privacy laws.
Assist in digitizing records and transitioning from paper to electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Coordinate with other departments to support patient care through proper record management.
Prepare reports and summaries based on medical data when required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) software and basic computer skills.
