Role Summary:
A General Practitioner (GP) Doctor is a licensed medical professional who provides primary care services to patients of all ages. They diagnose, treat, and help prevent a wide range of medical conditions while focusing on holistic patient care. GPs serve as the first point of contact within the healthcare system and play a critical role in long-term patient health and wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough consultations with patients to assess symptoms, medical history, and overall health.
Diagnose acute and chronic illnesses, and develop appropriate treatment and care plans.
Prescribe medications, therapies, and other treatments as necessary.
Provide preventative care including vaccinations, screenings, and lifestyle counseling.
Refer patients to specialists when necessary for further diagnosis or treatment.
Monitor and follow up on patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Maintain accurate and updated patient records in accordance with medical and legal standards.
Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment options, and disease prevention.
Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care when required.
Work collaboratively with nurses, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
Skills and Qualifications:
Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
Valid medical license to practice as a GP in the region (e.g., DHA, DOH, or MOH license in the UAE).
Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) and healthcare IT systems.
Empathy, patience, and a patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to manage multiple cases and work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
May work in clinics, private practices, home care settings, or telehealth environments.
Requires availability for scheduled appointments and potential on-call duties.
Involves direct interaction with patients, including children, adults, and the elderly.
Must adhere to strict health, safety, and confidentiality standards at all times.
